BCEMS Population

At BCEMS we have students from different continents around the world.  There are Asian students from India, Vietnam, Japan and China.  There are European students from Germany and Bosnia, and Russia. There are African students from Nigeria and Hispanic students of Central and South America.  At least 10 languages are represented with these students and their families.  Check out our ELL website at BCEMS and our ELL summer school presentation on the linked website.

Introducing myself

Hi everyone!  I am definitely a Digital Immigrant.  I can't say I have made it to Digital Pioneer yet.
I am an ELL teacher and understand students trying to learn a new language and this makes it even more real.
I have lived in Barre for 30 years now, but grew up in Maine.  I love the green mountains in the springtime in Vermont and all the shades of green.  I have four children who are almost grown and out of the house.  The last child at home, my son, Joey, graduates this year and will be off to college for the next year.  I have three grandchildren who I just am starting to take snowshoeing.  My husband works for Community Action Council with Financial counseling.  So begins the journey now with technology.   Ruth Hicks

Law of the Few

While reading "Law of the Few", I could picture different people in my life or that I have crossed paths with that fit the categories of Connector, Maven & Salesman.  My husband has a bit of two of these traits.  His best friend has the other.  In my professional career in coordinating things for church, school, or in the community, I have noticed that some people can just get others to jump on the bandwagon, or have just the right connections to make things happen, whereas, others do not.
